Feature Article Music Mag

This is the final version of my feature article for my music magazine.

I think that my final article as a piece of journalism was quite good because it would keep the reader interested and sticks to the purpose of promoting the artist. However I feel that I could have included some more details about the artists personal life so that the reader would feel like they are getting to know her on a deeper level and connect more with her as a human.
I think that the way I ended the article with mention of the artists new album and the date it is released to ensure that the reader is well aware of it, and so that the promotion of the album fulfilled well.
I feel that the texts grabs are good because they are in a very different and larger font to the actual article; however looking back I feel I oculd have made them stand out more against the background.
As on the contents page I had my magazine name in the top corner of the page to keep it looking professional and more like a (music) magazine as it is quite common to see this in magazines.
I feel that the pictures I used are well spread out and quite unique, which I think makes the article appear much more interesting and attractive. Although looking back now the positioning of them could have been a little better as the first page is quite text heavy compared to the second page.
I think that alternating colours between questions and answers is good because it makes it easier for the reader to diferentiate between them; and I feel that the use of black and white are good colours to use as they stand out enough from background colour.

Contents Page for my Music Mag

This is my final copy of my contents page for my music magazine and I think it works pretty well.

I think that the background coluor works quite well as it signals that it is magazine specifically targeting a female audience.
I feel that the colours stand out quite well against the background and therefore the text is quite easy to read. However I think that the colour of the text for my editoers letter is a bit too light and not as easy to read.
I used my magazine name at the top of the page and I think that is good because it makes it seem more formal and like any other (music) magazine.
I think that my pictures work well because there aren't so many that the page is too cluttered and I used a picture who is not my artist for my feature article so that there is more variety.
I also think that the use of the same font for "CONETENTS" was good because it keeps in tone with the name of the magazine. However I think that if I could go back I may change it so there is more variety.

The use of an editors letter was good because it gives off the impression that it is a real magazine however I feel that it would have worked better if it had been boxed off and separated from the rest of the text.
I feel that the articles mentioned in the contents work fit in well with the pop genre and the specific target audience such as "Steal your favourite stars look" and "JLS exclusive". I think these work well because my magazine specifically targets teenage girls and these are particular things that interest them.

Cover of Music Mag

This is the final version of my cover for my music magazine, and I feel that on the whole it works fairly well.

I think that the colours work quite well because they complement the image well.Although the majority are a shade of red and could have been more diverse.

I think that the mast heads work well as they appear to create a boarder. The font I used Apple Chancery works well as it gives presents the feel of a young magazine and would draw in younger readers.

I think that the fonts also work well. The font I used for the title, Groovalicious Tweak, relates to the title of the magazine because there are small stars, and my title is called RISING STARS. The fonts I used for the article names: Lucida Calligraphy, Zanpfino, and Monotype Corsiva give the whoil cover a young, trendy feel to it.
Although the fonts could have varied a bit more slightly, as they are all in 'italics'. I think the cover would have worked better if I had had more diverse fonts.

I think the image works well because she uses direct address and connects with the audience; however I feel that the image could have been more of a medium shot, and covered the title slightly.
I think that I should have taken a few more possible cover pictures though so that I would have had more to chose from and possibly found one that could have worked better than this one.

I think that maybe I could have had a coloured background, but the use of a plain background enabled me to use more pinks and purples to target the female audience. If I had had a bit longer onthe project I would have found a coulour that would have worked well with the writing and didn't clash.

Just a little something extra.

I thought it would be a good idea to quickly write a post about my feature article.
After I got my first draft back I only had to make a few alterations here and there. Add a little more detail aboutmy artists life; and in my text grabs put in more of the sentence so that the reader would want to read on. For example one of the text grabs talks about her break-up and to improve the article I refereced a breakup in the opening paragraph.

Today I managed to work more on the colour and fonts on my magazines pages, and the extra time I used during my free time helped me to bring it to a better standard.

Almost at the end!!

With the last day of production being tomorrow I plan to add the finishing touches to each of my pages, make sure that everything flows well and is done to the best of my ability within the time limit. I plan to use some of my free time to do this.
So far, in the last week, I have had to change the colour scheme on my front page due to the fact that the colours clashed a little bit, and also alter a the fonts slightly. I have also added a masthead to the botton of the page as well as the top to frame the cover a bit more, and fill up a bit of space.

However I feel that each page has come a long way and in all honesty apart from a few bits and pieces which needed changing it has gone pretty well.
All my images were cut out in good time and pretty well (considering before this project I had no experience with photoshop).
